What Can You Expect?
Immerse yourself in the 2023 superbloom in the foothills of the southern Sierra Nevada, while taking time for yourself in sacred wilderness space and belonging to an intentional community.
With the lengthening days, this is the perfect opportunity to shake off what’s left of your own inner winter and invite yourself to step forward and bloom… inviting the sun into your heart as you gaze upon the hillsides painted with golden poppies and purple lupines.
Explore your relationship with your true self and with the earth, as we take time for reflection with carefully created prompts. Deepen your study of the world around us, and feel attuned and vibrantly alive in your physical body.
Join us for an unforgettable journey, reclaiming your power and rediscovering your inner tranquility.
This weekend trip is for you if you are a beginner to intermediate backpacker looking for a short spring adventure to shake off the winter and open your heart, become more proficient and prepared in the wilderness, and rediscover wonder in the world. We will sleep under the stars, and bear witness to the elements that surround us.
Focusing on the Be Here Now mindset, we will hike, observing the beauty and learning about the native wildflowers as we go. There will be opportunities for you to express yourself through the practice of art or nature journaling, writing, group activities and photography. We will take sacred space in yoga and meditation practice to reconnect with mama earth and ignite our hearts and intentions with the sprouting seeds within. Join us in a safe and positive container where you will have the opportunity to go deeper within yourself, create new friendships and leave feeling empowered.
Participants will carry their own backpacks weighing 25-35 pounds with distances of 4-6 miles over established trails which can be rocky, require climbing over downed trees, and involve stream crossings. Poison oak is known in the area.

Trip 2: Wild Heart, Quiet Mind Backpacking
Trip type: Group backpacking trip
Hike level: Moderate to Hard
Dates: July 30- August 5, 2023
Price: $700 per person ($100 non-refundable deposit)
Number of participants: 8
What Can You Expect?
Picture this: Yourself, standing in ‘tadasana’ (mountain pose) on a granite face of one of the most iconic mountain ranges in the world. In front of you is pristine wilderness- a gray camouflaged landscape choicely decorated with the colors of the seasons. The bluish/green of streams and lakes, the reds and yellows of wildflowers, the deep green of conifers, and white shadowed patches of snow. No cars, no structures, and hardly any sign of human presence.
As you root down through the soles of your feet you connect to a presence much greater and much older than yourself. Boots, bare feet, hooves, and paws have all stood here before you, and will stand here long after you are gone. Above you, the daytime ghosts of stars who have witnessed it all. They will guide you into circadian alignment after the sun sets, exploding into a stellar masterpiece of nighttime viewing.
Intrigued? Come, play a part in this story. Satisfy your biological yearning for wild places and quiet moments as you explore the alpine wonders of Sequoia National Park. Led by experienced guides and mindfulness stewards this backpacking trip will be filled with yoga, meditation, and naturalist lessons as well as exploring the philosophy of yoga as it pertains to all aspects of life.
Each day will vary in topography, intensity, miles-covered, and lesson offerings. Group capabilities will be assessed and taken into consideration daily, and the itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather conditions, group morale, etc.
No yoga or meditation experience is required for the enjoyment of this trip! Only the desire to say yes to this experience and some miles in your well broken-in boots.
Say yes and be challenged to find a deeper connection to your true self, with the earth, and with the incredible community of people walking this path together.

Frequently asked questions:
DO I NEED TO HAVE BACKPACKING EXPERIENCE?
No, although it helps. This is a trip for beginners and intermediate backpackers who are happy to stop and smell the flowers. Your guides will support you along the way!
DO I NEED TO HAVE A YOGA AND MEDITATION PRACTICE?
All levels and experience with yoga and meditation are welcome.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ANY GEAR?
You’ll be provided with a gear list well in advance to help you plan your trip. Backpacking requires quite a few specialty items that can be pricey. Depending on where you are in gathering your personal collection of gear, I’ll give you some suggestions on how to acquire what you need. Gear can be purchased, rented, or borrowed. Some group gear may be available too.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER GOING TO BE LIKE?
The foothills in the spring is so beautiful but also can be unpredictable. Days are oftentimes sunny and in the 70s, with nights in the 40s. While the weather is often wonderful, expect a possibility of rain, wind, warm days, cool nights. The whole trip could be perfect, or we may have to wait out a storm in our tents - you never know!
HOW WILL ELEVATION AFFECT ME?
This trip is at a moderate elevation and should not have adverse effects.
WHAT KIND OF WILDLIFE WILL I SEE?
Although wildlife is unpredictable, we could see anything from a range of birds, deer, coyotes, rattlesnakes - even bears! We’ll camp ‘bear-aware’, keeping food and scented items in personal bear canisters, leaving any food-scented items from your car in a labeled bear-box at the trailhead, and be respectful of wildlife by keeping our distance.
WILL MY CELL PHONE WORK?
No. This is the perfect opportunity to fully unplug.
WHAT KIND OF SAFETY MECHANISMS ARE IN PLACE?
You will share for emergency contact information, and your guides will carry an InReach so that emergency communications can be established. Your guides are Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder certified,, and have handled more than a few uncomfortable situations in the backcountry. We will take some time to cover safety topics at the beginning of the trip.
