Park Store Manager:  Sequoia Parks Conservancy seeks an experienced, professional, and conscientious individual to join our team as a Park Store Manager.  The Park Store Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, including merchandise sales and visitor interactions, in the Conservancy’s Park Store(s) located in the visitor center(s) in Sequoia National Park. The Park Store Manager oversees the hiring, training, motivation, and evaluation of the Park Store staff and work closely with the National Park Service staff to ensure a terrific visitor experience.
You must be available to work any day, including weekends and holidays, and may be required to be on your feet for up to eight hours a day. This position works primarily indoors.
To be successful in this role, you must work well with your coworkers, the public, and agency partners.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Ability to multi-task, learn new skills quickly, troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Retail abilities including: accurate cash handling, ordering, employee training, salesmanship, and merchandising.
  • Experience with supervising, scheduling, performance evaluations and training staff in a busy workplace
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Residing in close proximity to Sequoia National Park is preferred
Starting Salary: $23.00 per hour
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.

  • 5 years Retail experience

Seasonal Positions
No open seasonal positions at this time but we are always accepting applications. 
Recruiting for the 2024 season will start early 2024.  Applicants should be available to work May 2024 through November 2024.  Suitable applicants with longer availability will be given priority






Winter Seasonal Positions
Should be available to work November 27, 2023 through April 26, 2024. 

Pear Lake Winter Hut Keeper:  Sequoia Parks Conservancy is currently seeking a reliable, professional, and conscientious person to join our seasonal team as a Pear Lake Winter Hut Keeper (PLWH). The PLWH Keeper manages the day-to-day operations of the Pear Lake Winter Hut.This position is physically demanding.  PLWH Keepers must be able to ski or snowshoe 7 miles on backcountry ski routes, in both favorable and inclement weather conditions, in under 8 hours. They must also be able to carry a loaded backpack on backcountry ski routes and move heavy inventory.
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.

Starting Wage: $17.25 per hour   Salary Range: $17.25 - $25.75 per hour
Requirements: 
  • Minimum availability November 27, 2023 through April 26, 2024 to be eligible for hire
  • Must have valid Wilderness First Responder and AIARE1 certifications, 
  • Must be an advanced backcountry skier or snowshoer
  • Must be able to travel with a fully loaded backpack
  • Must have experience in overnight winter camping
  • Must have your own backcountry ski and travel gear
  • Must be willing to live inside the park in the Pear Lake Winter Hut, often sharing with approved visitors, during on-duty hours 
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding NON-ADA compliant job site
  • Must be in excellent physical condition and health status
